Question For The Girl With The Shining Eyes
by: Allison

To the one with the ever-changing eyes and complacent smile
Why is it that you can hold me in your warm embrace for just a moment,
but in the next not even look at me?
My thoughts so easily revealed yet I find myself dodging glimpses as I
stumble in a maze of hiding from the truth
In a vain attempt to uncover the feeling of acceptance I thought I could
find within you.
You hide a lot behind those eyes,
and between the lines that one of us will never dare to step across.
How can it be that you reach out your hand
but in merely minutes replace it with apathy?
You can’t expect me to understand
You flash your smile but then you turn away.
Yet still...
Why does your being remind me of the dragonflies and twilight moonrise?
Even when my presence goes unnoticed in your eyes
Why must you be so beautiful?
